El Salvador: Draft Regulation For the Authorisation of Breast-Milk Substitutes’ Labels

The Ministry of Health from El Salvador launched a public consultation a draft technical regulation for the authorisation of the labelling of breast-milk substitutes.

The notified text proposes a definition for breast-milk substitutes; labelling requirements in line with the Central American Technical Regulation for the General Labelling of Pre-Packaged Foods, including additional specific provisions for the category; label authorisation process; and the process to obtain the sanitary registry once that the label has been approved. The draft was also notified to the WTO.
