Indonesia and Sweden Signed a Recognition Agreement Concerning Halal Product Assurance

Indonesia’s Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) and Scandinavian Halal Certification AB (SHC) of Sweden signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA). Through this agreement, Scandinavian Halal Certification AB officially becomes the first Foreign Halal Institution in Sweden recognized by BPJPH. This recognition forms the basis for implementing mutual recognition of halal certificates in accordance with the laws and regulations of each country, thus supporting the smooth flow of international halal product trade.

BPJPH emphasized that this collaboration contributes to Agency's efforts to build a stronger international network of synergy and collaboration for halal product assurance and support the halal product industry and trade sectors in a mutually beneficial manner. This synergy is also in line with efforts to establish internationally applicable halal standards.

The signing of the MRA is a concrete step in strengthening trade relations between Indonesia and Sweden. SHC expressed their appreciation for the BPJPH’s trust. This recognition is an important milestone for the institution and opens broader opportunities for both countries.

According to the Recognition Agreement, SHC is obligated to implement halal certification according to BPJPH standards, implement the Halal Product Assurance System, conduct surveillance and witness inspections, submit regular reports, input halal certificate data into the Sihalal system, and ensure that products exported to Indonesia comply with Indonesian halal labeling requirements. BPJPH also recognizes halal certificates issued by SHC within the established scope of competence through an accreditation and conformity assessment process.
