At its last Claims Working Group (WG) meeting on 27 November 2024, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) discussed several health claims applications in the pipeline:

  • Cranberry Powder and Urinary Tract Health: The WG reviewed the claim that dried cranberry powder aids in defending against bacterial pathogens in the lower urinary tract and decided to send another stop-clock letter for further details.

  • Olive Oil Polyphenols and Lipid Metabolism: Discussions included the health claim that olive oil polyphenols contribute to normal lipid metabolism. The applicant’s reply to the first stop-clock letter was evaluated.

  • Virgin Olive Oils: The WG examined the health claim for virgin olive oils and the applicant’s response.

EFSA also mentioned an upcoming application on Echinacea with unique alkamides for reducing sub-threshold anxiety. The date for the next WG meeting is yet to be announced.
