As of 15 July 2025, the use of erythrosine (INS 127) will be prohibited in all food categories across member countries of the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA), which includes Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama.

This change follows COMIECO Resolution 496-2025, which removes erythrosine from Annexes A and B of the Central American Technical Regulation RTCA 67.04.54:18 on Food Additives. Products already registered containing erythrosine will be granted a 12-month transition period to comply with the new regulation.
