The Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) has opened a public consultation on its draft standard "SFDA 2539:2025 – Vitamins and Minerals Permitted in Food Products". The proposed update outlines general requirements to ensure that the addition of micronutrients maintains food safety and does not mislead consumers.
The draft includes comprehensive tables detailing permitted vitamins and minerals, their allowable levels, and the food categories they apply to—such as dairy products, beverages, breakfast cereals, and infant formulas. It also introduces differentiated requirements based on food types and age groups.
Key amendments include revised values, newly specified forms, and categories, offering a clear comparison with the current standard.
