During the 156th WHO Executive Board, Brazil and Mexico distributed the Draft Resolution on “Regulating the digital marketing of breast-milk substitutes” and, since no Member States raised objections, it was considered to be a consensus amongst all Member States. The debate on its formal adoption will take place in the 78th World Health Assembly next May.
One of the main priorities foreseen in the Draft Resolution seeks to enhance efforts to develop and strengthen robust regulatory measures to regulate the marketing of breast-milk substitutes and foods for infants and young children, including in digital environments, taking into full consideration the recommendations on regulatory measures aimed at restricting digital marketing of breast-milk substitutes.
